It’s 2027 and they’re still using 60Hz! The high refresh rate is still missing from the iPhone 18e.
Fast Technology reported that Apple recently launched the new generation iPad mini, which features an upgraded OLED display for the first time, with the screen size increased to 8.5 inches, and is equipped with Apple’s latest flagship chip, the A20 Pro.
However, despite the upgrades to the screen and performance of the new iPad mini, its refresh rate remains at 60Hz, drawing criticism from some users.
Today, digital blogger “Digital Chat Station” revealed that the iPhone 18e will continue to use a 60Hz screen with a size of 6.12 inches.
The iPhone 18e will be equipped with a 2nm Apple A20 chip, a 48-megapixel rear camera, and the front camera is expected to be upgraded to 24 megapixels.

Regarding this configuration, some netizens commented that instead of using a 2nm chip but continuing to use a 60Hz screen, it would be better to use the previous generation flagship chip to reduce the price.

Some netizens joked that in 2027, the only brand you’ll need to confirm whether it has a high refresh rate is the one you’ll need to look for.
For reference, the iPhone 17e features a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and a Ceramic Shield front cover, which the company claims offers three times the scratch resistance.
If the iPhone 18e continues to use a 60Hz screen, the shortcomings of Apple’s entry-level models in terms of display experience will persist.
A high refresh rate not only affects the smoothness of screen scrolling and animations, but also directly impacts the user’s perception of the overall device experience.
For the e-series, which focuses on cost-effectiveness, striking a balance between chip performance, screen specifications, and price will be a crucial factor in whether the new phone can attract consumers.
