LG/BOE supplies OLED panels for iPhone SE 4: the notch screen returns

iPhone SE 4 will be released in the first half of next year. This time, the SE 4 will be upgraded to an OLED notch screen, officially bidding farewell to LCD.

The report also pointed out that the screen suppliers for iPhone SE 4 include LG and BOE, of which LG’s supply share is around 25-35%, estimated to be 5 million to 7 million pieces.

It is reported that the iPhone SE 4 has been upgraded to a 6.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1170×2532, the same as the iPhone 14. The phone has added Face ID and removed the Home button with Touch ID, but does not have the Smart Island function.

The camera is another major upgrade point of the iPhone SE 4. Its front camera is 12 million pixels, and the rear camera may be upgraded to the same 48-megapixel lens as the iPhone 15/15 Plus. It is still a single-camera solution and does not have an ultra-wide-angle lens.

It is worth noting that LG Innotek recently began mass production of iPhone SE 4 camera modules at its factory in Vietnam. In addition to LG Innotek, Foxconn and Will Semiconductor have also entered the supply chain of iPhone SE 4 camera modules.

In addition, iPhone SE 4 is the first to launch Apple’s self-developed 5G baseband, code-named “Sinope”. It is reported that Sinope will only support four-carrier aggregation and not 5G millimeter wave. In contrast, Qualcomm products can support six or more carriers at the same time.

According to Mark Gurman, the upper limit of Apple Sinope’s download speed is about 4Gbps, which is lower than Qualcomm’s solution.
