Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power Launched: Featuring Helio G81 Extreme SoC and 50MP Rear Camera
Motorola has recently unveiled four new additions to its popular Moto G series: the Moto G67, Moto G77, Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power. The Motorola Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power are basically the same phone with different amounts of RAM and storage, battery size, charging speed and thickness.
Motorola’s Moto G17 Power is equipped with massive 6,000 mAh battery designed to last through hours of usage and it support 30W fast charging for quick replenishment. Despite housing such a large battery the phone maintains a slim 8.8mm profile making it comfortable to hold and use. It come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage which can be expanded by up to an impressive 1TB via a microSD card.
On the other hand, the Moto G17 feature a thickness of 8.17mm and packs a 5,200 mAh battery that can easily last through a full day of moderate use. It support 18W fast charging allowing users to quickly recharge the device when needed. The smartphone comes with 4GB/8GB RAM and 128GB of storage expandable by up to 1TB via a microSD card.

Both the Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power have the Helio G81 Extreme SoC under the hood and run the dated Android 15 OS out of the box, with no word from Motorola on how many OS upgrades these phones will receive. Motorola has not yet provided details on how many major OS updates these phones will receive during their lifespan. According to the company, the Moto G17 is guaranteed to receive security updates until February 2028 but it remains unclear whether the Moto G17 Power will be supported with security patches for the same duration.
Built around 6.72 inch FullHD+ LCD display the Moto G17 pair offer a smooth 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,050 nits ensuring clear visibility even in bright conditions. The screen is further protected by Gorilla Glass 3 for enhanced durability. Both models feature 32MP front facing camera for selfies and video calls. On the rear the primary camera is a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor accompanied by a 5MP ultrawide lens for capturing wider shots. Completing the premium look, the back panel of both phones are finished in vegan leather providing stylish appearance and comfortable grip.
Other notable feature of the Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power include dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support for immersive audio, NFC for contactless payments and dedicated microSD card slot for expanding storage. Both devices also include a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack boast an IP64 rating for resistance to dust and water splashes and feature a side mounted fingerprint scanner for quick and secure access.

Motorola offer the Moto G17 Power in two stylish colors: Pantone Alaskan Blue and Pantone Evening Blue. In comparison, the Moto G17 includes these two options and adds a third color variant, Pantone Bordeaux giving users more flexibility when choosing a finish that best suits their personal style.

In the United Kingdom, the Moto G17 is offered for £149.99 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of built in storage and it can be purchased through Motorola’s official online store. Across other European countries, buyers can get the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model which is priced at €199. The Moto G17 Power which includes 8GB of RAM and a larger 256GB of storage capacity is priced at €229 in Europe. Details regarding pricing and availability in other countries throughout the EMEA region are expected to be provided by Motorola’s local teams in the near future.
