OnePlus ColorOS 16 adjusts BL unlocking method
For flashing enthusiasts, unlocking the Bootloader (BL) is essential. Only after unlocking can various modification operations be performed. However, due to various risk reasons, many manufacturers have already strictly controlled it.
Previously, Xiaomi’s Pengpai OS was criticized for its overly strict BL unlocking, and there were even cases where after-sales service downgraded the phone and unlocked it, people snatched it away.
OnePlus has always been relatively open, and basically you can unlock the new phone in seconds after getting it, but the rules will have to change later.
OnePlus officially announced today that in order to ensure the security of user devices and data and enhance system stability, the Bootloader unlocking method will be adjusted on the ColorOS 16 version. The first batch of OnePlus phones and tablets equipped with ColorOS 16 in the second half of the year will adopt the new policy.
The new regulations require deep testing to unlock bootloader permissions, but the official has made it clear that there is no need to answer questions, you only need to apply according to the process.
To apply for the in-depth testing program, all of the following conditions must be met:
-Models running ColorOS 16.0 and above
-No abnormalities or violations in the account
-No application record within 30 days
– Customized mobile phones and tablets for non-government enterprises and operators
-Mobile phones and tablets launched in mainland China

After joining the testing program, if the product malfunctions, you will not be eligible for the return or exchange service, but you can still enjoy the original warranty.
If you can successfully restore to the official system by flashing the device, you can still enjoy the three guarantees normally. If the restoration fails, you can only enjoy the quality assurance.
However, we still need to remind everyone that unlocking the Bootloader permissions and modifying system files may cause unpredictable impacts on the device, including but not limited to:
1. Third-party firmware may cause some functions of the device to not work properly, such as the camera. It may also cause damage to the device.
2. Personal security and private information on the device may be leaked, and security cannot be guaranteed
3. Some system functions may be modified, affecting system version upgrades and preventing you from experiencing the latest ColorOS services.
4. Device data may be damaged, lost, and cannot be restored
