Blogger Digital Chat Station revealed that Ouga Group’s models in the second half of the year will begin to batch upgrade to single-point ultrasonic screen fingerprint , including the OPPO Find X9 series, OnePlus 14 series and OnePlus Ace 6 series.

It is reported that short-focus fingerprint relies on light to capture fingerprint images. The finger is illuminated by a light source, and the camera captures the reflected light to create a fingerprint image.

Because the short-focus fingerprint module is relatively thick, it is often necessary to avoid the battery position when assembling it on a mobile phone. Therefore, the position of the short-focus fingerprint is usually close to the bottom of the screen, which is not particularly convenient for unlocking on large-screen models.

In comparison, the ultrasonic fingerprint is positioned in a moderate position, and its security and unlocking speed are better than the short-focus fingerprint solution.

Specifically, ultrasonic technology uses sound waves to detect the 3D details of fingerprints. The ultrasound waves pass through the surface of the skin, and the reflected signals are received by the sensor to create an accurate fingerprint model.

It should be noted that ultrasonic signals may not be able to effectively penetrate thicker screen protectors, especially tempered glass films. The thickness of these films may hinder the ultrasonic signals from reaching the fingerprint, thereby affecting recognition performance.
