OPPO Reno16 has begun testing: equipped with MediaTek’s most powerful 8-series chip, the Dimensity 8500.
OPPO launched the Reno15 series last November, with a starting price of 2999 yuan. Just over two months later, the next generation Reno is on its way.
According to a blogger, the OPPO Reno16 series has already started testing. The series will feature a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, a metal frame, and an LIPO four-sided equal-narrow straight screen. The chip will be upgraded to the Dimensity 8500, and it is positioned as an ultra-thin and lightweight camera phone.
Compared to its predecessor, the Reno15, the biggest change in the Reno16 series is the inclusion of the latest Dimensity 8500 chip, which is MediaTek’s most powerful 8-series SoC.
According to the data, the Dimensity 8500 uses a high-efficiency 4nm process, is equipped with eight Cortex-A725 cores with a maximum frequency of 3.4GHz, supports precise scheduling technology and LPDDR5X 9600Mbps memory with higher transmission speed.
Moreover, it is equipped with a more powerful eight-core Mali-G720 GPU, with peak performance up 25% compared to the previous generation and power consumption down 20% compared to the previous generation’s peak performance.
The device will be launched in the middle of this year and is expected to go on sale before June 18th.
