Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 platform, set to be unveiled at a product launch event on March 18th. Xiaomi is rumored to have secured global first-launch rights for this platform, with other major brands like OPPO, Vivo, and Honor also having acquired the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 for their upcoming devices.

The Snapdragon 8S Gen 3, manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process, features a CPU architecture that includes a 3.01GHz Cortex-X4 prime core, four 2.61GHz Cortex-A720 big cores, and three 1.84GHz Cortex-A520 little cores. The GPU is the Adreno 735, expected to operate at frequencies above 900MHz, with AnTuTu benchmark scores around 1.7 million points.

Compared to the currently available flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 has slightly reduced frequencies for its prime, big, and little cores. Positioned as a sub-flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 does not compromise on performance.

Leaks suggest that the Xiaomi Civi 4 series will be the first to feature the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 platform. Digital Chat Station has hinted that the first Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 device will debut this month, indicating that Xiaomi is likely to unveil the Civi 4 series by the end of March.

This announcement positions the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 as a significant release in the mobile chipset market, promising enhanced performance and efficiency for upcoming smartphones.
