REDMI 17 5G launched in India: Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, 7900mAh large battery

The REDMI 17 5G was officially launched in India today, with a starting price of 23,999 rupees (approximately 1,706 yuan). It will officially go on sale on September 10.

In terms of core configuration, the REDMI 17 5G is the first in India to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chip, which is built using a 4nm process. The CPU consists of Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.4GHz, and integrates an Adreno GPU.

The new device is equipped with LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 flash storage, offering 6GB and 8GB memory options, and supports up to 2TB microSD card storage expansion.

Battery life is a major highlight of the REDMI 17 5G, with a built-in 7900mAh super-large battery and support for 45W fast charging.

According to official claims, it can achieve approximately 2.5 days of battery life, more than 20 hours of continuous video playback, up to 146 hours of music playback, and up to 53 hours of continuous talk time.

In addition, the new phone also supports 22.5W wired reverse charging, which can temporarily power headphones, watches, and even other mobile phones.

In terms of screen, the REDMI 17 5G uses a 6.9-inch LCD screen, supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and has passed three certifications from TÜV Rheinland: low blue light, flicker-free, and rhythm-friendly. It also supports DC dimming.

The new phone features a 50MP AI dual rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture for the main camera, supporting shooting modes such as night mode, portrait mode, and HDR; and an 8MP front-facing selfie camera, supporting simultaneous recording with both front and rear cameras.

It’s worth mentioning that the REDMI 17 5G’s rear camera module also features dynamic RGB lighting effects, offering eight light colors that can be used to display charging status, message notifications, game lighting effects, and camera status reminders, further enhancing the overall recognizability of the device.

In other aspects, the REDMI 17 5G supports IP64 dust and water resistance, side fingerprint recognition, dual speakers, 300% volume mode, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It comes pre-installed with Xiaomi’s Surge OS 3 based on Android 16.
