Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Receives Certification: First Wide Foldable Android Phone to Debut Next Month

Samsung will officially release two foldable screen phones, the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, in July this year. The Galaxy Z Fold8 adopts a brand-new wide folding form and is the first mass-produced wide folding product in the entire Android camp.

According to media reports, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 has received network access certification from the Singapore IMDA, with the model number SM-F971B. The certification information indicates that the Galaxy Z Fold8 supports UWB (Ultra-Wideband) technology, enabling more precise near-field communication and interaction functions.

According to the parameters disclosed by the supply chain, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 has an inner screen size of 7.6 inches and an outer screen size of 5.4 inches. When fully unfolded, the thickness on one side is only 4.5 mm, making the whole device feel light and thin to hold, and there will be no noticeable burden even when operating with one hand for a long time.

In terms of core hardware, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 is equipped with Qualcomm’s fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Ultra flagship platform. Its imaging features a 50-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. Combined with a new hinge structure, it achieves a near-zero crease visual effect, placing its appearance among the top tier in the industry and on par with the OPPO Find N6.

It’s worth mentioning that wide folding is the new direction for the entire foldable screen industry. In addition to Huawei and Samsung, all mainstream mobile phone brands, including Apple, will launch their own wide folding models. Wide folding will most likely replace the existing conventional large folding and become the mainstream choice for the next generation of foldable screen products.
