According to supply chain sources, Samsung’s initial panel orders for Apple’s first foldable iPhone Fold have seen a significant increase, reaching 20 million units, approximately 20% higher than previously predicted. ( March 13, Fast Technology)

Due to insufficient yield rates and inadequate technical preparation, suppliers such as BOE, which had previously attempted to enter Apple’s supply chain, failed to be selected. This resulted in Samsung securing all panel orders for the iPhone Fold, becoming the sole supplier of this core component.

According to current production plans, Samsung will begin delivering panels as early as May. This means that the highly anticipated iPhone Fold is very likely to be officially unveiled at the fall launch event in September.

In terms of hardware specifications, the iPhone Fold will feature a large 7.7-inch main screen and a 5.4-inch external screen. Its most significant breakthrough lies in its near-crease-free design, with a crease depth of only 0.15 millimeters.

This extremely high degree of visual flatness will solve the most painful experience problem of current foldable screen phones. As Apple’s pioneering work in the foldable screen field, the pricing of the iPhone Fold has also attracted widespread attention in the market.

According to industry insiders, the starting price of the Chinese version of the iPhone Fold is expected to be around 15,000 yuan, while the price of the top-of-the-line version may exceed 20,000 yuan.

This will be the most expensive smartphone in Apple’s history. The significant increase in panel orders also reflects Apple’s extremely high confidence in the market potential and user acceptance of this ultra-premium flagship.
