Samsung unveils major design changes for Galaxy S27 Ultra: Large matrix module design rivals iPhone.
Fast Technology reported that renowned leaker OnLeaks has released renders of the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra. The images show a significant change in the design of this generation of Galaxy flagships.
It is reported that the Galaxy S27 Ultra features a 6.9-inch 2K flat screen on the front, with a metal right-angled frame and a horizontal large matrix lens design on the back, making its overall shape quite similar to the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The camera configuration has been changed from the previous generation’s quad-camera setup to a triple-camera setup, and one of the 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lenses has been removed. The bottom still retains the S Pen stylus slot, which is a classic feature of the Ultra series.
In terms of dimensions, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is basically the same as its predecessor, with a thickness of 7.97 mm, a width of 78.25 mm, and a height of 163.76 mm. The total thickness, including the camera bump, is approximately 12.53 mm.
In terms of hardware configuration, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be equipped with Qualcomm’s sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Ultra flagship platform. This chip uses a CPU architecture consisting of two 5.01GHz super cores, three 4.03GHz performance cores, and three 3.74GHz energy efficiency cores, and integrates an Adreno 850 GPU. It is manufactured based on TSMC’s most advanced 2nm process and is Qualcomm’s first 2nm mobile chip.
It is worth noting that although the sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Ultra supports the latest UFS 5.0 flash memory and LPDDR6 memory, the Galaxy S27 Ultra may not be equipped with a combination of LPDDR6 and UFS 5.0 due to the significant increase in the cost of memory and flash memory chips.
The phone is expected to be officially unveiled in the first half of next year, along with models such as the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Pro. Based on Samsung’s past pricing strategies, the starting price of the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to be around 10,000 yuan.
