The most powerful Kirin CPU ever is here! Huawei’s Mate 80 series debuts the Kirin 9030

There will be many blockbuster new phones in the second half of this year, including the Xiaomi 16 series, iPhone 17 series, etc. Among them, the Huawei Mate 80 series is naturally one of the most popular flagship phones.

According to Huaweicentral, Huawei is ready for the release of the Mate 80 series. In addition to new features, the new phone is expected to be equipped with the most powerful Kirin processor in history.

Earlier, wccftech reported that Huawei’s new flagship phone, the Mate 80, is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter. By then, the new phone is expected to be equipped with the new Kirin 9030 processor (name not yet confirmed), which is rumored to have a 20% performance improvement.

It is reported that the new generation of Kirin processors may adopt a new architecture. In addition, the Mate 80 series will adopt some innovative features, such as a new heat dissipation system to ensure optimal performance in any situation while reducing heat and thus extending the service life of internal components.

Currently, Huawei’s Pura 80 series is still equipped with the Kirin 9020 processor, which is consistent with last year’s Mate 70 series.

Yu Chengdong said at the press conference that compared with the Pura 70 Pro+ equipped with Kirin 9010, the overall performance of the Pura 80 series has been improved by 36% and the control fluency has been improved by 47%.

Detection information shows that the Kirin 9020 CPU part consists of 1×Taishan large core 2.5GHz + 3×Taishan medium core 2.15GHz + 4×1.6GHz small core, 8 cores and 12 threads, and an integrated Maleoon 920 840MHz GPU.

At present, the best process used by all Huawei Kirin series processors is still 7nm, and the 5nm breakthrough is still on the way.

Therefore, the Kirin 9030 will most likely continue to use the 7nm process, and will “improve the core architecture and continue the process” based on the Kirin 9020, taking small steps and making quick progress.

As early as November last year, there were reports that Huawei had achieved a breakthrough in key chip technology, and in the future Kirin chips will be iterated according to the K9020/9030/9040 pattern.
