According to Fast Technology on July 17, Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi Group, revealed in a live broadcast that Xiaomi’s next flagship will continue to use the back screen design and plans to increase R&D investment in this area.

Today, the blogger Digital Chat Station further revealed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will still adopt a horizontal large matrix back screen design. It’s worth noting that this will be the only high-end flagship phone in the second half of this year to feature a back screen, making its design style truly unique.

Looking back at the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max released last September, these two models were the first to introduce the Mi Screen. This design not only became a signature visual symbol of the Xiaomi 17 series, but also a differentiating selling point that attracted high-end users.

As the core innovation of the Xiaomi 17 series, the development of the Mi Screen has involved an investment of over 1 billion yuan. It uses the same Dragon Crystal Glass material as the main screen, and the 2.1-inch AMOLED screen also supports LTPO adaptive refresh rate technology.

This secondary screen horizontally covers the entire rear camera module, creating a strong sense of visual unity. In addition to supporting custom dynamic interactive wallpapers, it also deeply integrates real-time interactive functions for high-frequency scenarios such as ride-hailing and food delivery, allowing users to view key progress information without unlocking the main screen, greatly improving the convenience of daily use.

Thanks to this highly innovative product design, the Xiaomi 17 series achieved sales of over 1 million units in just 5 days after its launch. The top-of-the-line Xiaomi 17 Pro Max was particularly popular, largely due to its differentiated rear screen design. Now, the Xiaomi 18 Pro series retains this rear screen design while further enhancing the interactive experience with new and fun features and more supported scenarios.

In terms of hardware configuration, the Xiaomi 18 Pro will be the first to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8E6 series flagship platform. This chip uses TSMC’s most advanced 2-nanometer process, marking Xiaomi’s official entry into the 2-nanometer high-performance era.

In terms of specifications, the Snapdragon 8E6 series adopts the self-developed Oryon CPU architecture, with its core layout adjusted from the previous generation’s 2+6 to a more scientific 2+3+3 structure. It also integrates the powerful Adreno 850 GPU and supports the new LPDDR6 memory. Its overall performance is worth looking forward to.
