Xiaomi Mi Ring O1 shocked the entire industry:
Last night, Lei Jun suddenly announced that Xiaomi’s self-developed mobile phone SoC chip was named “Xuanjie O1” and was scheduled to be officially released in late May. This news shocked the industry and also marked an important breakthrough for Xiaomi in the field of chip research and development.
Looking back on Xiaomi’s chip-making journey, Lei Jun said: “Xiaomi’s ten-year journey of chip-making began in September 2014. After an extremely long period, huge investment and unlimited courage, we have finally arrived at this moment.” In fact, Xiaomi has gone through many twists and turns on the road to self-developed chips.
In 2017, Xiaomi first installed the Surge S1 processor developed by the Pinecone team on the Xiaomi 5C, using a 28nm process. Although this chip only had one generation of products, it laid the foundation for Xiaomi to develop its own chips.

As time goes by, Xiaomi has not given up the dream of developing its own chips, but has continuously launched self-developed chips in multiple fields. For example, the Surge C series imaging chips, the Surge P series fast charging chips, the Surge G series power management chips, etc., all demonstrate Xiaomi’s accumulated strength in the chip field.
The Xuanjie O1 chip released this time will be truly independently designed and developed by Xiaomi, using the latest process technology, and positioned as a flagship chip. It is expected to be first installed in Xiaomi 15S Pro.

According to reports, the Xuanjie O1 chip is based on TSMC’s N4P process technology and adopts the traditional eight-core three-cluster design. In addition to self-developed chips, UWB technology will also return in the Xiaomi 15S Pro model, further enhancing the linkage capabilities between mobile phones and Xiaomi SU7/YU7 series cars, and achieving more accurate unlocking and locking functions.
Lei Jun’s announcement of the release of Xuanjie O1 is not only an important milestone in Xiaomi’s chip development history, but also marks Xiaomi’s continuous breakthroughs and innovations in the high-tech field. For this reason, People’s Daily Online also published an article stating that “In the past year, Xiaomi’s continuous innovations in new energy vehicles, domestic chips and other fields have proved that as long as we work hard, there is no insurmountable mountain.”
From Xiaomi’s journey of developing its own chips, we have seen that Chinese companies are constantly catching up and breaking through themselves on the road of technological innovation. We hope that more Chinese companies can move forward bravely on the track of technological innovation with the determination to “withstand pressure”, the sense of responsibility and the courage to “blaze new trails”, and add bricks and tiles to China’s innovation cornerstone.
