late at night on July 4, Sony Japan released an important announcement on its official website , officially explaining the situation to the outside world regarding the rare but serious power-related abnormalities that have recently occurred in its latest flagship smartphone Xperia 1 VII, and announced a complete suspension of shipments and sales of this model in Japan.

According to the announcement, Xperia 1 VII encountered problems including automatic shutdown, automatic restart without warning, and inability to boot normally during actual use.

These problems only occur in a few cases, but Sony said it still decided to take preventive measures to ensure the safety and user experience of users. Currently, Sony has suspended shipments of all affected models and stopped sales in Japan.

Sony stated in the announcement that the company is actively investigating the cause of the problem and called on users to temporarily stop using the model. It also recommended that users back up their data to prevent data loss.

Sony has provided temporary response suggestions for users who have purchased or own this model, including forced restart and the latest software update.

The specific operation is: press and hold the power button and the volume up button (+) at the same time for about 20 seconds until the device vibrates and continue pressing for 20 seconds.

In addition, users can also go to Settings → System → System Update (or Software Update) and follow the prompts.
