Foldable iPhone sales are expected to exceed 8 million units next year and 25 million units the year after
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently revealed that Apple plans to launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026 and plans to follow up with a foldable iPad in 2028.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo’s prediction, the shipment volume of foldable iPhones will reach 8-10 million units in 2026, and is expected to grow to 25 million units in 2027; as for the foldable iPad, sales forecasts are relatively conservative.
Guo Mingchi revealed that both foldable devices use ultra-thin glass cover solutions, with Corning exclusively supplying the glass materials, while General Interface Solutions (GIS) is responsible for subsequent key processes such as cutting, edge processing, quality inspection, and packaging and transportation.
Mark Gurman once revealed that Apple will name this folding screen iPhone Ultra, which will be equipped with Apple’s second-generation self-developed C2 baseband chip and will fully adopt eSIM design.
Among them, the inner screen is 7.76 inches, with a resolution of 2713*1920, adopts a hole-free design, and is equipped with an under-screen front camera; the outer screen is 5.49 inches, with a resolution of 2088*1422, and adopts a hole-punch screen solution.
In addition, Guo Mingchi believes that the pricing strategy of the foldable iPad is more high-end. It will provide an 18 to 20-inch display area when unfolded , and remain portable when folded. It will become Apple’s largest mobile device screen ever.
However, some media believe that Apple’s entry into the foldable market at this time makes it a latecomer compared to competitors such as Samsung and Huawei that have already launched similar products.
But with its strong supply chain control and brand appeal, Apple is expected to redefine the product standards for foldable devices, and this move is also seen as an important supplement to the existing iPhone product line.
