While Samsung is widely recognized for creating some of the world’s best smartphones, it is equally respected for its high quality OLED display technology. Samsung Display supplies OLED screens to a large number of smartphone and monitor manufacturers worldwide. It is now being reported that the company has begun producing next generation OLED panels specifically for Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro laptops.

According to information shared by a tipster, Samsung Display has begun mass producing its new generation of OLED panels designed specifically for laptops. The manufacturing is said to be taking place at the company’s Asan A6 plant which is equipped with an 8.6 generation OLED production line designed to produce dual stack OLED panels. Reports indicate that Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro will be the first laptop to feature these new displays with a launch expected in the latter part of 2026.

These newly developed OLED panels are expected to deliver the best image quality ever seen on a laptop display. Although mass production was initially scheduled to begin in the second quarter of the year, reports indicate that the process started around three months earlier than originally planned.

Dual-stack OLED panels, which are also referred to as tandem OLED technology, are capable of producing higher brightness levels and offer a longer lifespan than the OLED displays currently used in laptops. These improvements make them better suited for laptops that are used for extended periods. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Apple’s next MacBook Pro models may introduce touchscreen functionality and a Dynamic Island inspired punch-hole cutout for the first time.

Apart from the new display improvements, the upcoming MacBook Pro is said to include Apple’s M6 series chips, a more advanced FaceTime camera and a thinner and lighter design than current models.
