According to Fast Technology on May 18, in the second half of this year, in addition to bringing the Mate 90 series flagship phones, Huawei will also launch a new generation of tri-fold screen phones – the Huawei Mate XT2.

According to blogger “Super Dimension World”, the Huawei Mate XT2 will be equipped with the latest flagship chip this year, which is expected to be the Kirin 9050 Pro.

If the leaks are true, the Huawei Mate XT2 will see a significant upgrade in core performance.

The new Kirin chip, paired with the HarmonyOS system, is expected to further improve the overall smoothness of the device, multitasking capabilities, and the overall experience in large-screen scenarios.

As Huawei’s new generation of tri-fold screen flagship, the Mate XT2 will continue to represent the top product strength in the current foldable screen form factor.

It’s worth mentioning that when Huawei released the Mate XTs Extraordinary Master tri-fold phone last September, Yu Chengdong, Chairman of Huawei Terminal BG, directly announced the Kirin 9020 chip model at the launch event.

This is the first time since 2021 that Huawei has proactively mentioned the specific model of its Kirin chip at an official launch event.

Therefore, barring any unforeseen circumstances, Huawei is expected to officially announce the specific model of the new generation Kirin chip when the Mate XT2 is released.

In addition to performance upgrades, the blogger also revealed that the Huawei Mate XT2 will undergo significant changes in its appearance design, becoming more stylish and attractive overall.

From a product positioning perspective, Huawei’s tri-fold screen was previously more business-oriented, targeting high-end business users.

If the new phone adopts a more fashionable design language, it means that Huawei may want to further broaden the audience of its tri-fold screen and attract more female users and young high-end users.
