Apple’s first foldable screen iPhone Duo will officially open for pre-order across all channels at 8 pm on October 16, and will be officially released on October 23, with prices starting at 15,999 yuan in China.

With only one day left before pre-orders open, the product’s popularity continues to grow. Currently, the number of pre-orders on the JD.com platform has exceeded 2 million, far surpassing the pre-order performance of regular flagship models during the same period.

As Apple’s first horizontally foldable phone, it has generated high market expectations since its release, with many consumers planning to be among the first to purchase and experience it.

In addition, due to the limited production capacity of foldable screen components, the market generally expects a shortage of supply during the initial launch phase, which has given rise to a complete industry chain of proxy purchases and resellers, with the highest service fee for proxy purchases during the initial launch reaching 888 yuan.

Currently, many sellers on second-hand platforms such as Xianyu have launched a first-release snatching service, with prices ranging from 300 yuan to 1,000 yuan. Different price points correspond to different success rates and pickup methods.

Some stores initially listed a price of 599 yuan with a 100% success rate for those who could snag a product, but after consultation, the actual price was 888 yuan. They offered to assist users in picking up their products at Apple’s offline stores during the first three days of the launch, from October 23rd to 25th, ensuring that they would receive the first batch of stock.

In fact, every year during the initial launch phase of Apple’s new flagship phones, there are varying degrees of proxy buying and price premiums. Foldable screen models, due to slower production ramp-up and smaller initial shipments, exhibit a more pronounced supply-demand imbalance in the market.

Industry insiders predict that the initial domestic shipments of the iPhone Duo will be limited. Coupled with high pre-orders, online channels are likely to sell out instantly during the initial launch period, and offline channels may also see varying degrees of price premiums.
