Oppo has introduced a new smartphone under the A59 moniker, a name previously used for a model released in 2016. The latest Oppo A59, now launched in India, is distinct from its namesake, featuring entirely different specifications and design.

Galaxy A59 Under The Hood

The new A59 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset. It is priced at INR 14,999 for the base model, which includes 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. For those seeking more RAM, a 6GB variant is available at INR 16,999. Both versions are set to be available for purchase starting December 25, through Oppo’s online store, Flipkart, and Amazon.

This smartphone boasts a 6.56-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 720×1612 pixels. It features a waterdrop notch and a 90 Hz refresh rate, with a peak brightness of up to 720 nits. The device supports microSD cards for additional storage and offers dual-SIM functionality.

For photography, it is equipped with a 13 MP rear camera, a 2 MP depth sensor, and an 8 MP front-facing camera. Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 33W SuperVOOC fast wired charging.

Running on Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1, the Oppo A59 is also IP54 certified, ensuring dust and splash resistance. Oppo emphasizes the device’s durability, stating that it has passed a “rigorous 36-month fluency test,” suggesting that the A59 will maintain its performance and efficiency for years to come.
