Huawei announces its Ultra-Large Storage Technology adaptation plan: Mate X7 series to receive the update in June.
Fast Technology reported that Huawei recently launched HyperSpace Memory technology when releasing the Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition, which allows 16GB of RAM to deliver a near 20GB of storage.
The newly released Pura 90 series also fully supports HyperMemory technology, and Huawei has also announced an adaptation plan for older models.
The Mate 80 series will support this feature after upgrading to HarmonyOS 6.1.0.117 or later, while the Mate X7 series is expected to receive the upgrade gradually starting in June 2026.

Hyperspace Memory technology, through a smarter memory management mechanism, stronger system-level compression capabilities, and the inherently low memory usage achieved through joint optimization by HarmonyOS and ecosystem partners, allows the phone to retain more background application states with the same memory capacity, significantly reducing application restarts and repeated loading.
With a 69% improvement in memory compression rate, the application keep-alive rate is increased by 100%, allowing 16GB of memory to deliver a keep-alive experience close to 20GB.

No reloading is required when switching, completely solving the pain points of lag during multitasking and background app killing.
Unfortunately, the Mate 70 series, Mate 60 series, Mate X6 series, Pura 70 series, Pura X and other models do not support the extra memory technology due to different design specifications.
