Market Research Firm Predicts Ai-Enabled Smartphones Marketshare To Reach 40 Percent By 2027
Market research firm Canalys forecasted that by 2027, AI smartphones will account for 45% of the market share. This prediction is based on the smartphone industry’s response to new technology trends, particularly the rapid development of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI).
Several smartphone manufacturers have already released AI-related large models and operating systems, applying them in new products to drive the development of AI strategies. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, recently launched in China, will come pre-installed with Google Cloud’s Gemini AI model.
The Galaxy S24 series utilizes Google’s AI infrastructure, including Imagen 2, Gemini Pro, and Nano LLM, enabling Android developers to quickly deploy creative hybrid AI features for global users.
However, Samsung’s reliance on Google’s AI infrastructure is a double-edged sword. While this partnership can yield short-term results, it also poses the inherent risk of products becoming increasingly generic. As other Android manufacturers gain similar access, Samsung may find its software differentiation advantage diminishing.
Canalys believes that as the smartphone industry seeks new growth opportunities, various manufacturers will prioritize generative AI as a strategic focus, committing to personalized and experience-oriented innovative development.
