Motorola’s first wide-screen folding phone! Renderings of the razr flex have been released:
According to Fast Technology on September 29, Motorola’s first large foldable phone, internally codenamed “razr flex” and developed under the codename Parker, is expected to be released in mid-December, directly competing with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Apple iPhone Duo.
The inner screen is a 6.92-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 1728 x 2364, an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 165Hz, and supports HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
The external screen is a 4.97-inch OLED with a resolution of 1736×1140 and a refresh rate of at least 120Hz.
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, has a built-in 5000mAh dual-cell battery, and supports USB-PD wired charging and 25W Qi2 wireless charging.
It features a dual 50MP rear camera setup, with the main camera supporting 30x digital zoom and the ultra-wide-angle lens also being 50MP. It does not have a telephoto lens. Both the inner and outer screens have 32MP front-facing cameras.
The unfolded dimensions are 110×149×5.8mm, the folded dimensions are 110×76×12.6mm, and the weight is 215g.
For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is 9.7mm thick and weighs 201g when folded, the iPhone Duo weighs 254g, and the razr flex is in between, being 39g lighter than the iPhone Duo but 2.9mm thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
It has IP48 and IP49 protection ratings, supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 LE Audio, 5G, nano SIM + eSIM, and comes pre-installed with Android 17.
The power button on the right side of the device integrates fingerprint recognition, and there is also a separate physical AI button.
The color options include PANTONE Coriander and PANTONE Dark Botanical Garden.
The design renderings are based on previously leaked sketches and the design language of the Motorola Razr Fold and Signature 27, featuring a horizontal dual-camera module layout on the back.
It’s worth noting that this model, to be released at the end of the year, opted for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 instead of the latest flagship chip. Analysts believe this is to leave room for price adjustments, and the razr flex is expected to enter the large folding phone market with a more competitive price.
