Samsung develops new battery: abandons 5000mAh capacity for 10,000 years

Samsung SDI is developing a new type of battery using stacking technology. Compared with traditional batteries, the energy density of the new battery is increased by about 10%.
With the help of stacking technology, when the capacity of Samsung’s new battery reaches 5500mAh, its thickness is comparable to the 5000mAh battery of the Galaxy S24 Ultra . The industry expects that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will be the first to launch the new battery, and it is almost certain that this technology will not be applied to Samsung’s affordable models because of the high cost.
Up to now, all new domestic flagships are using the new silicon-carbon negative electrode battery technology, and the capacity of all of them exceeds 5000mAh, which is much higher than the iPhone and Samsung super cup models of the same period.
This is mainly due to the large-scale application of silicon-carbon negative electrode batteries. Compared with traditional batteries, the application of silicon-carbon composite materials has greatly improved the energy density of batteries, making them smaller in size and lighter in weight at the same capacity.
In order to allow flagship mobile phones, where every inch of internal space is valuable, to fit larger capacity batteries and provide a user experience without obvious shortcomings, Samsung will also abandon 5000mAh and move towards larger battery capacities in the future.
