Samsung Galaxy imaging specifications stagnate or even regress!

Samsung Galaxy S Ultra series has always had powerful imaging capabilities, but in recent years it has shown signs of self-destruction and stagnant performance.

Faced with Samsung’s lack of ambition, a petition calling for the urgent replacement of the head of Samsung’s camera department appeared on an online signature platform.

The proposer is none other than Samsung whistleblower Ice Universe, who wants the department’s top executive to step down. The main reason is that the camera specifications of the Galaxy S Ultra series have not only remained stagnant, but are even rumored to be regressing.

It lists eight major sins of Samsung in camera performance, including:

Specifications stagnated, no substantial upgrades for many years

The performance of the painting value has fallen behind the opponent

Ignoring user feedback, problems remain unresolved for a long time

It only copies Apple and loses Samsung’s characteristics

Poor skin color algorithm

Delayed and discriminatory software updates

The technology strategy is too conservative and only focuses on AI

Lack of brand vision leads to a sharp drop in consumer confidence

In recent years, Samsung’s lens planning for the Galaxy S Ultra has been controversial. For example, the S23 Ultra cut the 10x optical lens and changed it to 5x, and increased the pixel of the photosensitive element from 10 million to 50 million, and combined it with AI algorithms to maintain performance similar to the past, and it has been used all the way to the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

But for some reason, Samsung has insisted on not using its own 200-megapixel photosensitive element for telephoto, even though telephoto requires higher pixels to obtain information under high-magnification zoom. It is currently rumored that the next generation Galaxy S26 Ultra will continue to maintain the same telephoto solution.

What’s worse is that Samsung may even shrink the photosensitive element of the 3x lens and switch to Sony IMX 854, reducing the size from 1/3.52 to 1/3.91, which is even worse than the specifications of the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Even if we ignore the rumors, it is indeed difficult to say that Samsung has made any improvement in its telephoto performance in recent years. As the saying goes, no progress means regression. With the efforts of domestic brands in imaging, Samsung’s original signature halo is gradually disappearing.
