Samsung’s first ultra-wide foldable phone! The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is selling like hotcakes
According to Fast Technology on August 10, the South Korean supply chain revealed that market demand for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 has far exceeded previous plans. Samsung has decided to place an additional order for 1 million units and simultaneously place new material procurement requests with upstream and downstream component manufacturers.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is Samsung’s first wide foldable phone and also the first wide foldable Android phone.

The 7.6-inch internal screen adopts a 4:3 golden visual ratio, providing a wide and comfortable field of view when watching movies or playing games in landscape mode, and conforming to human eye browsing habits when reading and browsing social information feeds in portrait mode.
With a 5.5-inch external screen in a 10:16 aspect ratio, one-handed operation is effortless when folded. The screen seamlessly extends and scales when switching between the internal and external screens, and various apps are adapted to a smooth and seamless experience.
The screen features Samsung’s self-developed titanium metal display stacked structure, with a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits. It is equipped with a professional anti-reflective coating, ensuring that the picture remains clear and transparent even under strong outdoor light. The titanium shock-absorbing bottom layer significantly reduces creases.
The device is 9.7mm thick when folded and only 4.5mm at its thinnest point when unfolded, with a total weight of 201g. The mid-frame is made of reinforced armored aluminum, and the inner and outer screens are equipped with Gorilla Glass. The entire device is IP48 dustproof and waterproof certified.

It features a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 mobile platform, a VC liquid cooling system, 12GB and 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of storage. The system comes pre-installed with One UI 9, which is adapted for 4:3 screens and supports multi-window split-screen and parallel window office logic.
The imaging module is equipped with dual 50-megapixel rear cameras, namely a main camera and an ultra-wide-angle camera. The main camera supports a large F1.8 aperture, OIS optical image stabilization, and can achieve 2x lossless optical zoom and up to 10x digital zoom. Both the inner and outer screens have 10-megapixel front cameras, and a new automatic portrait tracking shooting function has been added.

It has a built-in 4800mAh battery and supports 45W wired fast charging.
Industry analysts believe that the 4:3 widescreen form factor is more suitable for watching movies and reading videos, and for working with documents. It precisely addresses the pain points of the narrow and long bodies of previous foldable screen devices, and at the same time, it takes the lead in the competition with the rumored Apple 4:3 aspect ratio foldable phone. It is a key model for Samsung to adjust its foldable screen product strategy.
