Tears of the times! LG announces termination of all mobile phone services

LG’s official website announced that LG Electronics will terminate LG mobile phone software upgrades, update center, and LG Bridge (PC tool) services on June 30, 2025. After the service is terminated, LG will not provide software upgrades. If necessary, please upgrade the software before the termination on June 30, 2025.
This means that LG phones in consumers’ hands will no longer enjoy software upgrades and related service support, and it also means that LG phones have completely bid farewell to the market.

Earlier in April 2021, LG Electronics announced that it would completely stop the production and sales of mobile phones on July 31, 2021. The official stated that “withdrawing from the extremely competitive mobile phone industry is part of the group’s strategy” and the company can concentrate its superior resources on growth areas such as electric vehicle components, smart homes, robots, artificial intelligence and other fields.
As a veteran in the mobile phone industry, LG has also had its moments of glory. In 2008, LG became the world’s third largest mobile phone brand, with annual shipments reaching 100.7 million units, second only to Nokia and Samsung. The previously launched chocolate phone KG90 was even more popular, selling nearly 600,000 units in China within one year of its launch.
However, starting from the second quarter of 2015, LG’s mobile phone business began to suffer losses. As the losses continued to increase, the giant had no choice but to withdraw from the mobile phone industry.
