As the expected launch of the One UI 8.5 beta program draws nearer, Samsung appears to be intensifying its internal checks and tests for the new firmware across multiple devices. Reports indicate that testing is happening across multiple devices and the very first One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy S24 series has been discovered on Samsung’s servers. This suggests that the company is moving steadily toward a public beta release.

As usual, Samsung seems to prioritize the Ultra version of its devices when rolling out early software tests and the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the first to get attention this time. The firmware for this device has already been spotted online. It’s very likely that this build will leak to the public, just like previous test firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Z Fold 7 did. If that happens we will make sure to try it out on our devices and share our experience.

Earlier this week the update details for the upcoming One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy S25 series were leaked. Many of the changes listed there are likely to be included in the Galaxy S24 series as well. However, it is still unclear whether Samsung will officially include the S24 series in the One UI 8.5 beta program. These mid cycle updates have an inconsistent history when it comes to beta releases so it’s hard to make a definite prediction.

Since One UI 8.5 is planned to launch first on the Galaxy S26 series rather than on a new Z Fold or Z Flip device, it seems likely that multiple Galaxy S models will be included in the beta program. At this point, it’s mostly a matter of waiting to see what Samsung decides to do. We will continue to monitor the situation and share new information as soon as it becomes available.
