iPhone Fold memory finalized! Apple places bulk order for 12GB LPDDR5X memory
According to Fast Technology on March 12, as the production pace of the iPhone Fold continues to accelerate, Apple has placed a large order for 12GB LPDDR5X memory from Samsung. This move indicates that Apple’s first foldable screen phone has officially entered the sprint stage before mass production.
Although Apple secured highly competitive memory prices thanks to its strong supply chain, the cost of its core memory has still doubled compared to last year due to market conditions, which undoubtedly increases the overall cost pressure on the device.

Given that the iPhone Fold is positioned in the ultra-premium flagship market, Apple has been cautious in its first-year sales forecast for the product. Annual shipments are expected to be less than 12 million units, accounting for less than 5% of all iPhone shipments in 2025.
In terms of supplier selection, Samsung will be the primary supplier of memory for the iPhone Fold. To ensure supply chain diversification and stability, Apple will also source some memory components from manufacturers such as SK Hynix and Micron.
According to the current plan, this highly anticipated foldable flagship will be officially unveiled this fall. Production of key components is expected to accelerate and fully commence from the end of the second quarter.
In terms of hardware configuration, the iPhone Fold features a large 7.7-inch main screen and a 5.4-inch external screen. Its most significant breakthrough lies in its near-crease-free design, with a crease depth of only 0.15 millimeters, resulting in an extremely high degree of visual flatness.
Furthermore, the phone will be equipped with a powerful A20 Pro chip and a large-capacity battery exceeding 5000 mAh. This combination of top-tier specifications aims to deliver both strong performance and long battery life to users.
