MediaTek plans to officially release its next-generation flagship mobile platform, the Dimensity 9600 Pro, this September. This chip will be manufactured using TSMC’s most advanced 2nm N2P process, marking the Android camp’s collective entry into the 2nm era.

According to a blogger’s leak, the Dimensity 9600 Pro will be equipped with two top-tier ultra-large cores, with its CPU clock speed approaching 5GHz. In early engineering sample tests, its single-core score reached 4200 to 4300 points, while its multi-core score was locked between 12000 and 12500 points.

With such impressive specifications, the Dimensity 9600 Pro will directly compete with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8E6 series and Apple A20 Pro, both released at the same time, making a three-way battle for industry dominance imminent.

Compared to the previous generation Dimensity 9500’s 4.21GHz clock speed, the Dimensity 9600 Pro breaks the series’ historical frequency record, becoming the highest-clocked SoC chip. This significant frequency increase indicates that mobile devices will have even more formidable burst power when handling high-load tasks.

In addition to the breakthrough in core frequency, this chip also introduces the latest SME2 instruction set and integrates a high-performance GPU based on the Arm Magni architecture. This combination will significantly enhance the chip’s overall performance in artificial intelligence computing and large-scale game rendering.

In terms of storage specifications, the Dimensity 9600 Pro is also at the forefront of the industry, not only fully supporting LPDDR6 memory but also being the first to adapt to cutting-edge UFS 5.0 flash memory. This is not only a hardware iteration but also marks the official entry of the entire mobile phone industry into the UFS 5.0 era.

As is customary in the industry, the new Dimensity 9600 series will debut in the vivo X500 series. As a flagship trendsetter for the second half of the year, related terminal products are expected to officially debut as early as September this year, completely unveiling the mystery of this new generation of performance monster.
