iPhone no worry about poor signal! iOS 18 Beta 4 launches WLAN Calling: use WiFi to make calls

Apple pushed the iOS 18 developer preview Beta 4 update (internal version number: 22A5316j) to iPhone and iPad users early this morning.

It is worth noting that in addition to the new CarPlay wallpapers, control center and other functions, China Telecom users have also discovered that a new wireless LAN calling (WLAN Calling, also known as Wi-Fi Calling) function switch has been added to the settings.

Currently, this function is only available to China Telecom SIM card users after an update. It can support making calls using WiFi networks, making emergency calls, etc.

In fact, this is similar to the VoWiFi technology currently being tested by China Telecom and China Unicom. Last year, China Telecom first supported WiFi dial-up voice and video calls in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Foshan.

It allows users to make and receive calls directly through the connected WiFi signal. In other words, no matter what the signal of the mobile phone SIM card is, as long as there is WiFi, clear calls can be made.

In today’s bustling cities with tall buildings, there is often no signal in the buildings. VoWiFi can effectively solve the voice and text message problems caused by weak coverage in residential areas.

I hope that in the future iOS will be able to deeply integrate with this function to improve the poor signal performance of the iPhone.
