Apple releases iOS 18.6 developer preview Beta 3: AI is nowhere in sight for China
Apple pushed the iOS 18.6 developer preview Beta 3 to iPhone users.
Developers can download the beta version through the “Settings” app on compatible devices and go to “General > Software Update”.
No visible update content has been found so far, but there have been reports that iOS 18.6 will provide practical updates for users in the EU.
Although Apple’s current iOS version in the EU supports the above two behaviors, it will insert some warning screens, which has attracted the attention of EU regulators and will require some adjustments.
It is worth noting that there have been rumors in the market that Apple hopes to expand Apple Intelligence to the domestic version through iOS 18.6, but it has been repeatedly postponed due to regulatory issues.
It is reported that Apple Intelligence for the Chinese iPhone is provided through a third party service, integrating the big models of Alibaba and Baidu.
Among them, Wenxin Yiyan is the core cloud engine, and Alibaba is responsible for Apple’s content compliance review.

In fact, starting from iOS 18.5, Apple Intelligence has already supported the Chinese version. Apple’s preparations are already in place, and currently it is more of a review issue.
Apple not only has to face China’s censorship, but also the United States’ regulation.
The United States is worried that Apple’s cooperation with Baidu and Alibaba will allow the latter to learn America’s “advanced” technology.
