Apple released the second developer preview of iOS 26 today. Compared with the version after the press conference, it has made many improvements, especially the much-criticized control center repair, adding background blur, and greatly improving readability.

Many users who have upgraded their experience previously complained that the control center was too transparent and integrated with the desktop information, making it difficult to find the buttons they needed.

This version also has many improvements, as follows:

Control Center: The liquid glass Control Center button has a stronger background blur effect, higher appearance opacity, and the content is easier to see.

Reduce transparency: The Reduce Transparency option under Accessibility in the Settings app further reduces the transparency of the Smart Island.

Safari browser: The position of the new tab button in the tab management view has been changed from the upper left to the lower left, which is consistent with iOS 18; when using a compact tab bar, both back and forward options are available.

App Store: Add an “Accessibility” section to the product page. Developers are required to provide detailed information on the accessibility features supported by the app for display.

Wallet: Fully supports the order tracking function announced at WWDC, allowing Siri to scan the mail app to find merchant orders and emails, regardless of payment methods.

New Ringtones: A new “Alt 1” option has been added to the ringtones, which can be selected through the Settings app.

Radio widget: Added real-time radio station Apple Music widget.

Low Power Mode: Improved description to clarify that it will temporarily reduce background activity, processing speed, screen refresh rate and brightness, and limit 5G, iCloud sync, email retrieval, etc.

Live captions: The “Transcribe call” option is renamed to “Save call transcript,” and a sound will notify call participants before transcription begins.
