Huawei will build a satellite-ground integrated communication network that will never lose connection

Huawei’s Yu Chengdong reportedly delivered a speech at the International Aerospace Information Industry Ecosystem Conference today.

He mentioned that in recent years, Huawei has taken the lead in using Beidou’s high-precision positioning technology, continuously promoted application innovation, and enhanced the competitiveness of satellite communications, and actively explored the creation of future communications in which “space-ground integration and never loss of connection” are achieved.

In the future, Huawei will focus on large-scale commercial use, continue to make breakthroughs in key technologies, and build a seamless three-dimensional super connection based on satellite Internet.

Yu Chengdong said: “Huawei is the first to support Beidou high-precision positioning and Beidou messaging. China’s 5G is developing rapidly. This year, China has entered the 5.5G era. We used to say that 6G is the integration of air, space and land, but we think we may not have to wait until 6G. We hope to realize the integrated communication network of air, space and land from 5.5G.”

As the industry’s first manufacturer to launch satellite communication technology, Huawei still has the best experience in smartphone satellite communications.

Huawei phones currently still have the exclusive Beidou satellite messaging technology, and have even developed their own image compression technology that is up to 10,000 times faster than before. It can compress images to 800 Byte, which is equivalent to transmitting a photo in the space of 400 Chinese characters.

This allows the function of sending pictures via Beidou messages. Although the clarity is not high, it is sufficient to identify landmarks and locations. In an emergency, it is very likely that someone can be rescued because of this picture.

In addition, Huawei also supports the Tiantong satellite communication system, which can not only send text messages, but also make direct calls. Since its launch, this function has rescued countless hikers and is of great significance in scenes such as mountains and deserts.
