Chinese leaker “Smart Pikachu” revealed that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is expected to come standard with satellite communication functionality. This is in contrast to the OPPO Find X7 Ultra, which has separate satellite communication and non-satellite communication versions.

Previously, it was reported that the OPPO Find X7 Ultra, launched in early January, did not feature satellite communication, which might be included in a special satellite communication version of the model. According to the blogger, aside from the satellite communication feature, there are no differences in other configurations between the OPPO Find X7 Ultra and its satellite communication version.

Xiaomi, adopting a different strategy from OPPO, plans to include satellite communication functionality in all versions of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, similar to the Huawei Mate 60 series. This will be Xiaomi’s first phone to support satellite communication, using miniaturized chip technology for two-way satellite communication, allowing the device to stay connected even in areas without ground network coverage.

Other features of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, based on previous leaks, include the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 flagship chip, possibly an “overclocked version” of the Snapdragon 8 Gen3, using TSMC’s N4P process. The phone is expected to have a unique 1+5+2 architecture design, with a CPU frequency exceeding 3.3GHz, potentially surpassing the performance of the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen3.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is likely to feature a rear quad-camera setup with four 50-megapixel cameras, including a main camera, ultra-wide-angle, 3.2x telephoto, and 5x telephoto lenses. The main camera is expected to use the Sony LYT900 sensor, an upgraded version of the IMX989, with a 1-inch super large base, making it Sony’s strongest 1-inch main camera sensor to date. Additionally, it will support DCG dual conversion gain and a variable aperture ranging from f/1.6 to f/4.0. The device is also expected to feature ultrasonic fingerprint recognition technology. More detailed information is awaited from official sources.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra Camera

In 2023, satellite communication became a standard feature in many flagship smartphones, and Xiaomi is no exception in its top-tier flagship. This trend seems to be an inevitable direction for the industry. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra performed exceptionally well in imaging last year, and there are high expectations for the 14 Ultra.

The continuous development of satellite communication not only broadens usage scenarios but also meets a wider range of user needs. There is anticipation for the 14 Ultra to meet consumer expectations and achieve further breakthroughs in technology and user experience.
