60Hz screen will be eliminated! iPhone 17 standard version upgraded to 120Hz high refresh rate

industry insider Ross Young revealed that both the standard version of iPhone 17 and the ultra-thin model iPhone 17 Air will be upgraded to 120Hz high refresh screen, which means that the entire iPhone 17 series will enter the high refresh rate era, and 60Hz will be eliminated from history.

The current iPhone 16 series standard and Plus versions still have a standard refresh rate of 60Hz, and only the Pro series supports 120Hz ProMotion high refresh, and the latter’s refresh rate can be reduced to as low as 1Hz.

Nowadays, all major mobile phone manufacturers are adopting 120Hz refresh rate, but Apple is the only one that still insists on 60Hz screen on the standard version. Some people believe that this is obviously intentional by Apple. Apple’s purpose is to make users choose the more expensive Pro by differentiating the screen configuration.

It is also worth noting that the iPhone 17 series will no longer launch a Plus version, but will be replaced by the iPhone 17 Air.

It should be noted that the iPhone 17 Air is not positioned as a flagship. Its price is expected to be similar to that of the iPhone 15 Plus. The basic version starts at about US$899, and its new industrial design is one of its main selling points.

In this way, the four models in the iPhone 17 series can be said to have their own functions: the standard iPhone 17 continues to focus on the entry-level market; the iPhone 17 Pro/Max is aimed at consumers with professional creation needs; and the iPhone 17 Air will be positioned between the standard version and Pro, providing a new choice for users who pursue fashionable design.
