New One UI 6 Beta Update Rolls Out for Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are edging closer to the full release of the Android 14-based One UI 6 update, with the rollout of a new beta version of the software. This latest update, which began distribution on November 8, 2023, aims to iron out bugs and enhance the stability of the software.
While the changelog primarily notes bug fixes and stability improvements, users of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 have observed the return of animations for the cover screen widgets with this update. Additionally, the beta update incorporates the November 2023 security patch, which Samsung has already started deploying to its Galaxy devices currently on Android 13.
This fifth beta release, identified by firmware version ZWK5, is available in all regions participating in the beta program. Users can download the update via the “Settings ยป Software update” menu on their devices. As a precaution, Samsung advises users to backup important data to avoid potential loss in case a factory reset is required to resolve any issues post-update.
The number of beta updates that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will receive before the stable version rolls out is still uncertain. For context, the Galaxy S23 series underwent nine beta updates before its stable release, which has been temporarily halted, suggesting that the Fold 5 and Flip 5 might also see additional beta versions before the final release.
