Galaxy Z TriFold Introduces a Next Level Fingerprint Reader
Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold is the company’s first phone with a tri-folding design. This device showcases the company’s newest innovations in display quality, hinge mechanics and battery performance. Recently, it has been revealed that Samsung has also equipped this phone with highly advanced touchscreen technology and a modern fingerprint reader.
Goodix, which is well known for making fingerprint readers for phones and laptops, announced that it has created the advanced touchscreen panels and the side mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor used in the Galaxy Z TriFold. The controllers that power the main and sub touchscreens in the device are specially tailored and are considered among the best available.

This touchscreen panel offers a high level of driving power, which is important for supporting bigger displays and it also has excellent protection against noise generated by the display. To achieve this performance, the panel uses Goodix’s custom built hardware sampling architecture along with its advanced noise suppression algorithms. These features help filter out interference so the touchscreen can detect even small or light touches clearly. This is especially important for the device which has large 10-inch display where consistent and precise touch response is needed.
The company claims that it uses a form adaptive touch algorithm capable of telling the difference between all three fold positions: folded, partially open and fully open. By recognizing these states the system can reject accidental touches more accurately and improve overall touch reliability.
The capacitive fingerprint reader developed by Goodix is extremely narrow, with a width of just 1.65mm making it the smallest of its kind in the market. Because of its slim size, it can easily fit into the Galaxy Z TriFold’s thin 4mm frame without taking up too much space.
