Benchmark TSMC! Samsung 3nm chip mass production in second half of the year: Galaxy S25 world premiere
according to media reports, Samsung will begin mass production of 3nm Exynos processors in the second half of 2024, named Exynos 2500, and will be launched on the Samsung Galaxy S25 series.
Data shows that last year, TSMC took the lead in mass-producing commercial 3nm processes, which were first used by Apple A17 Pro and M4.
After a year, Qualcomm and MediaTek will also embrace the 3nm process. In the second half of this year, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen4, MediaTek Dimensity 9400, etc. will all use TSMC’s 3nm process.
Now Samsung is about to launch the 3nm chip Exynos 2500. In the 3nm process, Samsung is the first to apply the all-around gate process (GAA, full name Gate-All-AroundT), breaking the performance limitations of FinFET technology.
Specifically, Samsung’s 3nm GAA process improves energy consumption ratio by reducing the operating voltage level, while enhancing chip performance by increasing drive current.
Compared with the 5nm process, Samsung’s 3nm GAA process can reduce power consumption by 45%, improve performance by 23%, and reduce chip area by 16%.
