Folding iPhone has entered the P1 prototype development stage: see you in 2026

Apple is advancing the research and development of a foldable iPhone, and it is expected that this innovative product will be officially unveiled in the second half of 2026.

According to overseas media reports, Apple’s folding iPhone project entered the P1 prototype development stage in June, and will subsequently go through the P2 and P3 stages. It is expected that the entire prototype development process will be completed by the end of 2025 .

According to Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Hon Hai Precision will start producing this foldable screen iPhone in the third or fourth quarter of 2025. Although the key hinge part has not yet been finalized, the screen specifications have been determined and will be provided by Samsung Display.

In addition, according to overseas media reports, Apple has currently suspended the research and development of the foldable iPad due to manufacturing difficulties, increased production costs and sluggish market demand, which makes the foldable iPhone the focus of Apple in the field of foldable devices.

It is reported that the first foldable iPhone is expected to be released together with the iPhone 18 series in the fall of 2026, bringing a new user experience to consumers.
