A report from DealSite has revealed that Samsung intends to incorporate advanced display technology into its next generation Galaxy Z Fold 8 which is slated for release this summer. This technological enhancement is anticipated to decrease the prominence of the screen’s crease by roughly 20%, making it less apparent to users. However, there remain some uncertainty about how exactly one would measure the visibility of the crease in a reliable and consistent way leaving room for interpretation.

The company reportedly plans to use Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) not only for the top layer of the display but also for the bottom, notable step in improving both durability and user experience on the foldable screen. Additionally, the device is expected to feature a laser-drilled metal support plate integrated within the display assembly. This structural reinforcement aim to further mitigate the appearance of the crease, enhancing the overall user experience. Interestingly, this approach contrast with what is rumored for the upcoming iPhone Fold which is said to rely on a glass substrate rather than UTG, although Apple is still expected to source its foldable display technology from Samsung Display.

Interestingly, Samsung has already demonstrated a foldable display with no visible crease during CES 2026 showcasing the company’s latest advancements in foldable screen technology. However, it remain uncertain whether this very display will be the one used in the Galaxy Z Fold8, since the panels shown at exhibitions are often experimental and may not reflect the final production specifications.
