Guo Mingchi reveals the iPhone 17 Slim: a huge change in industrial design
analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that the iPhone Plus model currently accounts for 5%-10% of Apple’s shipments, which means that the other three models (standard version + Pro version + Pro Max version) have fully covered the high-end market and the Plus model has become redundant.
Therefore, the iPhone 17 series will discontinue the Plus version and add the iPhone 17 Slim, which will be an iPhone model with a brand-new design.
Guo Mingchi pointed out that the iPhone 17 Slim is not a renamed version of Plus, but focuses on innovative industrial design. It is an ultra-thin iPhone. Apple is exploring a new iPhone route.
It is reported that the iPhone 17 Slim uses a 6.6-inch Smart Island screen with a resolution of 2740×1260, is equipped with Apple A19 chip, is equipped with a titanium alloy middle frame with a lower titanium content than the iPhone 15 Pro series, has Apple’s self-developed 5G baseband, and a single rear camera.
It is worth noting that Guo Mingchi also mentioned that the high-end version of the iPhone 17 series will be equipped with A19 Pro, and both chips are manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process.
Because TSMC’s 2nm process will not be put into mass production until the end of 2025 at the earliest, the iPhone 17 series cannot keep up with the latest process technology.
