Samsung, the global smartphone leader as of Q3 2023, is set to unveil a Galaxy smartphone equipped with generative artificial intelligence (AI) next year.

This announcement came during their Q3 earnings conference, where Samsung reported a revenue of KRW 67.4 trillion (approximately $49.86 billion). The South Korean tech giant plans to integrate AI into their Galaxy devices, offering new user experiences starting in 2024.

The AI technology Samsung refers to is an on-device generative AI, similar to ChatGPT, which operates without needing an internet connection. This means users can access various services through simple voice commands, even offline. Samsung’s move appears to be a strategic response to the anticipated Apple iPhone 16 series.

Samsung is actively developing its generative AI technology, potentially combining the best features of ChatGPT and Google Bard. This technology might debut in the upcoming Galaxy S24 series, which is touted to be the next AI powerhouse.

The Galaxy S24 series aims to be the smartest AI phone ever, and this AI technology might also be featured in the Galaxy Z6, expected to launch in the latter half of 2024. Samsung’s efforts seem to be geared towards competing with Apple’s iPhone 16 series, which is also expected to feature on-device AI technology when it launches in the second half of 2024.
